A Question for Big Dreamz
Because so many wedding videographers across the country are part time only, brides and grooms tend to be surprised when they visit our studio and find out that we are full time videographers.

Along with wedding videography, we work with corporate and nonprofit organizations all over the southeast providing videography, photography, print and web design.

Since we are photographers as well, some people have asked us to provide wedding photography. As much as we enjoy photography, when it comes to weddings, we really enjoy videography much more. The wedding day is such a big event with so much going on -- it takes both of us filming in different locations to make sure we can capture all the planned and unplanned moments.

Besides, we have a lot of fun working with all of the different photographers. They have all become good friends and we admire their work.

Weddings Can Be Fun Too
Last week we met with a couple who had (like so many) assumed that they knew what Love Notes, Wedding Shorts or GroomCam was all about. Then when they found out and saw an example, the creative thinking took off. For this couple GroomCam was a unanimous choice! Blooper reels have always been popular with our couples, and GroomCam makes it so much more entertaining.

One of our couples created Bachelor Island. We laughed so much while we were editing this wedding video -- it wins so many points just for creativity. We may have to submit it to YouTube one day.

How Close is Too Close?
In meeting with our brides and grooms, we have been hearing about a number of instances where they have seen videographers -- in an effort to get a certain shot -- get way too close to the ceremony participants, namely the bride and groom. They did not like how distracting it was for the audience and the bridal party.

While we agree that getting the perfect shot is important, it's more important to respect and honor the sanctity of the wedding ceremony. That's why it has always been our policy to attend the rehearsal so that we can know exactly where to place our cameras for the best coverage while not intruding on the intimacy of the event.

That's why getting to know our couples is so important to us. We want them to feel comfortable and confident that we will always work with their requests as well as those of the wedding venue.

And yes, we have had a few special weddings (mostly outdoors) where the bride and groom requested the cameras be as close as possible and we were more than happy to do just that.

So how close is too close? You tell us!

Wow 2008!!
It must be the year of weddings! We have been booking so quickly for 2008 that we are already having requests for 2009. With the way things have been the past few years, we hope brides will look at booking their videographer at least 4 - 6 months in advance. We only accept 20 - 25 weddings each year so that we can give each wedding our undivided attention. If you are interested in securing Big Dreamz, please make sure to email us asap to confirm your date is available.

This year, it's great that we will be returning to some of the more popular venues including all the beautiful churches throughout the state. Other locations include the RSA Activity Center, the RSA Plaza, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Wynlakes Country Club, the new Renaissance Hotel, Fountainview Mansion, The Oaks, Alabama Shakespeare Festival Garden and Jasmine Hills Garden to name just a few.

Fountainview Mansion
We discovered a beautiful location in 2007 for a wedding or any event - the Fountainview Mansion in Auburn, Alabama. Yes, Auburn. Google it on the web and you'll see what I am talking about. Jason and Amanda Clark had a gorgeous outdoor wedding at Fountainview in October. In the "fan mail" section of our website, you'll see a photo of the mansion and right after, a photo of Jason & Amanda. Another great family that we enjoyed working with.

Shoot the Dress
Funny name but it's a great video opportunity. So much time and money are spent on selecting the right dress, hairstyle, accessories - why not find another reason to capture the bride's beauty and personality? We have had so many requests for this service and the groom's really enjoy having a music video that is all about their beautiful bride. Mom and Dad always enjoy it too. If you'd like to see an example, request one of our 2008 DVDs.

Alabama Weddings Magazine
Thanks to the great staff at Alabama Weddings Magazine for featuring Big Dreamz in an article about wedding videography. The article will be in all the 2008 issues. This is a great magazine, well designed with beautiful photography. We're excited to be a part of it and hope everyone will get the chance to pick one up this year. They can be found at Books-a-Million, WalMart, Barnes & Noble, any major retail outlet throughout the state.

I Almost Forgot!
In 2007, we were awarded a Gold AVA Award for our wedding videography. The AVA Awards is an international awards competition -- this was a great surprise for us and we are proud to be recognized for our creative wedding videos. With each wedding, we look for the unique and appreciate the style and creativeness of each couple - then, we find ways to make the videos reflect that. We take the time with each project to focus on creating a video that captures the fun, excitement, and heart-warming moments that are happening throughout the day and edit them into a video that is entertaining and beautiful to watch. Weddings are a celebration of the family and a wedding video is a keepsake for the couple, but it is also a gift to share with their children and grandchildren. If you'd like to take a look at some of our award-winning work, give us a call or email and request a free DVD.

2007 was Just A Blur!
2007 such a great year -- we met so many wonderful families and friends throughout the state. One new little person we met that didn't exist until 2007 - Leandria Shantel Brinson - daughter of Kwandra and Joseph Brinson, one of our favorite wedding couples in 2006. Leandria is so cute and she has 2 great parents! We were thrilled to get to meet her.

We were also blessed to be able to move into our new office & studio in historic downtown Prattville. Big Dreamz started in Montgomery in 1999, then moved to Millbrook and now we're happy to be in the "Preferred Community". We are looking forward to being more involved with our new hometown.

Thanks to all the couples, their families and friends for allowing Big Dreamz to be a part of their celebrations! We've enjoyed filming some of the sweetest and most creative ceremonies all over the Southeast. Looking forward to 2008!
